In Albania, shaking your head means ‘yes’ whilst nodding means ‘no’occasionally people do it the other way around, which makes it even more confusing. Albania is a small, mountainous country in the Balkan peninsula, with a long Adriatic and Ionian coastline.

Tourism in Albania is a growing sector and key to the economy of several regions of the country. A significant part of Albania’s national income derives from tourism. In 2014, it directly accounted for 6% of GDP, though including indirect contributions pushes the proportion to just over 20%. Albania welcomed around 4.2 million visitors in 2012, mostly from neighboring countries and the European Union. In 2011, Albania was recommended as a top travel destination, by Lonely Planet.
