A fresh coat of lead-free brown paint is applied to Paris’ Eiffel Tower. Once every seven years, every crevice, nut, bolt and beam is re-painted by hand. The Eiffel Tower, constructed in 1889 for the World’s Fair that marked the centennial of the French Revolution, and the world’s tallest building until 1929, has become the most visited paying monument of France.
